video: Making
“art of the
arrangement”

Produced by Doug Beavers

Producing my “Art of the Arrangement” record in 2017 was a total joy. It made me realize the the beauty of what happens when a musical community comes together for a common good. This one featured a full jazz orchestra (including French horns and tubas) and full Latin percussion. This project would go on to win a Grammy® Nomination for 2018.

About the producer

Trombonist, composer, arranger, and Circle 9 director and founder Doug Beavers developed a fervent passion for studio production when in 2005 he found himself at Avatar Studios in New York City surrounded by the likes of Michael Brecker, Christian McBride and producer Richard Seidel for Eddie Palmeiri’s Grammy® winning album “Listen Here”, on which he played trombone and provided arrangements.

Since then, he has developed key skills necessary to effectively produce records in the modern era, including audio engineering in Pro Tools, editing, mixing, and mastering, in addition to his composing, arranging and organizational talents. This has allowed Beavers to produce albums in a variety of genres throughout his career with fluidity and passion, always developing a camaraderie amongst his musicians and allowing for comfort and creativity in the studio.

He most recently received his first Grammy® as producer in 2018, when he co-produced the acclaimed Spanish Harlem Orchestra’s 6th studio effort, “Anniversary”.
